Long-awaited update

Welp, as you can see it has been several week since my last post. Lots of great things have occurred since the beginning of April. I'll try to concisely and chronologically lay it all out:

1. April 12th- OFFICIALLY had the ultrasound to determine our little cuties are GIRLS! Very exciting. Unfortunately, the video of our reveal party is not uploading (soon I'll get it up here!).

2. April 29th- The girls' anatomy scan went FABULOUS!

3. May 17th- Graduated from SF State's Bilingual Credential program. Such a great feeling of being rewarded for a lot of hard work!

4. May 31st- Taught my last day of student teaching with my 5th graders. They were so sweet and threw me a surprise baby shower. So touching.

5. June 1st- Celebrated our (very soon to be born) newest niece as we traveled to Fresno and attended Laura's baby shower. It's been so much fun being pregnant at the same time and knowing our little girls are going to be so close in age. Can't wait for the holidays this year!

6. June 8th- 16th- Went up to Seattle to: visit with family before I'm completely immobile (that day is rapidly approaching), celebrate the girls' baby shower, attend Baylee's high school graduation (I'm old!!!), and enjoy a "baby moon" in the San Juan Islands. It was a bit surreal to be 6- 6.5 months pregnant while sleeping in the bed (the same one!), eating at the familiar restaurants and driving around the same neighborhoods that I did when I was just a child. While surreal it may have felt, more than anything I now envision how our little girls are going to be seamlessly incorporated into our Northwest family when we head up for vacations. So, I'm very glad I waddled myself to the airport, ached for two hours on the plane as my sciatica didn't let up (whaaaaa I know, I know), and proceeded to waddle around my hometown :)

The baby shower was so lovely. I've attached a photo of the adorable table with my cheekily standing beside it. It was put on by one of my very best childhood friends, Mary and her mother, Laurie. Every mother in the room (which there were many) told me their favorite part of motherhood and those who aren't mother yet shared their favorite thing about their mother. It was so sweet and I feel so lucky to have such amazing women as role models not only for myself but for these two babies as well.

Our baby moon to the San Juan's was so much fun. Well, I should say it was so relaxing! We went for a couple nights to the quaint, port-side town of Friday Harbor, Washington. We went whale watching (and spotted a transient Orca!), checked out the beautiful exhibits at the Whale Museum, strolled around the town's little boutiques and coffee shops, and ate A LOT of delicious food (and Joe of course had some great local brew!). Although we didn't squeeze in every possible tourist attraction Friday Harbor has to offer, it was perfect for us, and a perfect way for us to spend some quality time together before these girlies get here.

Joe giddy to ride the Clipper and get to Friday Harbor

So pretty!

This upcoming week (in four more days!) our family from the East Coast (Joe's mom and dad) will be coming out to the Bay Area for almost two weeks! I can't wait to get to spend this time with them and enjoy the 4th of July together as well. Joe's brother, Nick, has been out here for an internship this last month and will continue to be here until mid-August. So, we've been so lucky to get to hang out with him and show him around a few of our favorite places. Meggie, Joe's sister, will be visiting mid-August. So, we'll have a chance to see EVERYONE by the end of the summer and by the time the twins are here. It's going to be a very fun-filled, love-filled summer indeed! Can't wait :)
