So many new things!

I have been so bogged down with school work these last few weeks I feel like I haven't had a moment to do an update. So, here is a few Schmidtty happenings from those last few weeks:

We went in on March 15th when the babies' were about 12.5 weeks along. Joe and I were blown away to see the amount of growth and MOVEMENT our little cuties were displaying! We were so happy to finally see those classic profile shots (below). Although baby A was moving around like crazy, so it took some time to get a good one! Baby B was sleeping for the majority of the appointment, then woke up for a bit. So, we were lucky enough to see them both move around. I found it so fascinating that they could be moving with such vigor, yet I felt absolutely nothing. I can't wait to finally feel them kicking in just a few short weeks! The sonographer told us that she could probably see what the sexes were. But, we decided to wait until the next ultrasound to get an even more accurate view. We headed to Fresno on March 22nd to enjoy a few days of spring break with our family and friends there. It was so great to see our family and especially fun to chat, go maternity shopping, and EAT with my (at the time) 24.5 week pregnant sister-in-law :) We had such a great time.

As my next ultrasound was scheduled for March 28th, and I would still be on spring break, we decided we would head BACK to Fresno that following weekend to do the twins' oh-so-anticipated (albeit a little cheesy) gender reveal party. Here's how it worked:

  1. Brought a card into my ultrasound with a line that read "Baby A is..." and another that read "Baby B is..."
  2. Was lucky enough to get a very cooperative sonographer who didn't tease me while I covered my eyes while she checked the babies' "sex parts."
  3. Went to the restroom to change and had her write the sexes in the card provided, under the appropriate slot, and seal it. Tightly.
  4. Once in Fresno, we purchased four cans of silly string; two blue and two pink.
  5. The morning of the reveal a friend of my sister-in-law's hid away, opened the card, chose the appropriate colors* to be sprayed on Joe and me later, removed the lids, and discarded the other two cans. (*string color is only distinguishable by the lid color)
  6. At the time of the party, Joe and I sat out on the grass and our niece, Hazel and nephew, Roscoe sprayed us with the string! It was a moment neither of us will ever forget.
We had so much fun learning the sexes of our babies together with friends and family. We even had family FaceTiming and Skyping from all over (Joe's parents and brother even joined in from Paris). The photos and video are amazing, but, I will wait to show them until the official confirmation ultrasound on April 12. Can't wait!

Xoxo
