31 weeks today!

Today I have officially reached 31 weeks of pregnancy with the twins! I feel like all of the sudden I am in the final stretch of the pregnancy and now I'm scrambling to to make sure everything is organized before these cuties get here. Of course, it does not help that I haven't been able to allow my nesting instinct to take over, as we will be moving from our one-bedroom apt in 10 days! I absolutely cannot wait to set up the girls' nursery and be able to take a deep breathe knowing that, even if our stuff isn't necessarily organized, they will have a space just for themselves. Quite the relief. Also, the neighborhood in Berkeley in which we'll be moving is very family friendly, has much more space for the girlies, and is right down the street from my Moms of Multiples group. So, it should be a great location for us for the next couple years at least.

This upcoming weekend we'll be heading to Fresno to FINALLY meet our adorable niece, Olive. More and more photos of her are popping up on social media, and she already is growing so quickly. So, it will be nice to meet her while she still is newborn size! And, of course, we're excited to visit with our family there as well :) On Saturday my buddy, Jessica, is hosting a baby shower for the girls and me. It will be great to visit with some family and old friends that I haven't seen since we've lived in Fresno. Should be a fun time!

31 weeks with moving stuff everywhere!

Third trimester, here we go!

All is well and I feel relatively sprightly, considering. I've made it to 29 wks, 3 days today and my 5'1" body is really beginning to look (and feel, more than anything) very ridiculous (as evidenced below)...

28.5 weeks
Most importantly, however, the girls are doing great and have continued to reach all of their growth milestones. On July 3rd Joe's parents joined me as I went to the girls' 28.5 week ultrasound. They showed their adorable little faces (below), which was especially nice because at the last appointment a month prior they both covered their faces with their arms like little divas ("no pictures please!"). Baby B is breech and thus very cooperative as far as seeing her face. I think she looks a lot like her dad and thought it even more appropriate that the ultrasound image made it look like she has a little Dali-style mustache (a feature both her father and grandfather are known for). Baby A, on the other hand, was hiding her little face for the majority of the ultrasound. But, the sonographer finally got an image of her nose and eyes, with her arm covering half of her face. I think she has the infamous "Schott" nose. But, we'll have to wait until they're here to see! I am told that they are getting so squished up in there that they are unlikely to see at least Baby A's face anymore. Though the good news is that she is head down, so I'll take it!

The visit with Joe's parents was really lovely and we were able to incorporate a fun-filled visit while organizing some necessities for the babies; a win/win! Joe's sister, Meggie, will be out in August, so it will be wonderful to get a chance to visit with her as well before the girls get here.

Some of the BIGGEST news we received while the Schmidts were visiting was that my newest, adorable niece Olive Kay was born on July 4th! My sister-in-law, Laura, began feeling contractions only a few hours beforehand and had her completely drug-free. AMAZING!!! We've been ogling over all of the photos that Marshall and Laura have been posting and sending us. But, we'll get a chance to snuggle her up on the weekend of July 27th... and CANNOT wait!!!

So far the third trimester has been treating me well. Let's hope that the move on August 1st, exams and further baby growth doesn't slow me down too much!
